Celebrating My 66th Birthday on Route 66, Introducing Our New Travel Advisor, and Launching Your Reinvention, Week One July 23, 2024
Hello Friends,
We are in the dog days of summer in Memphis. The temperatures and the humidity are high and oppressive. I am a fall and spring girl; I do not like extreme temperatures! The saving grace of summer is my pollinator garden, hummingbirds, and fresh produce. My zinnias and basil have taken over my garden area, and I pray daily for a tomato crop!
I created my blog and website to help women over 55 reinvent their lives. While my content was meant to inspire you to live your life more fully, it hasn’t given you a framework to begin your reinvention journey. That changes today. Are you ready for a 6-week reinvention journey? I know I am always ready to learn and grow.
Start your 6-week journey to create the life you desire and deserve!
This week, we will focus on getting you started on your reinvention journey. Get a notebook, a pen, and your favorite beverage. While I can give you the guidelines, you have to reinvent and create the life you want. You have to create the future self of your dreams.
Free PDF Worksheet for Week One:
Please read the article below and download the free PDF worksheetto help you get started. The first step to reinvention is assessing your current situation. Are you happy with your life right now? Work through this week’s checklist and journal about where you are right now. Next week, we will take the first steps to createyour new life.
Celebrating My 66th Birthday on Route 66
This year, I celebrated my 66th birthday in a place that has become a second home to me—New Mexico. Despite a series of travel delays, I finally arrived at the warm welcome of friends and pets. My birthday was spent exploring the iconic Route 66, visiting galleries, enjoying local cuisine, and taking in the serene beauty of Albuquerque.
One of the highlights was a visit to the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park, where I finally had the chance to hike along the Rio Grande. The experience was made even more special by a peacock at the Los Poblanos Lavender Farm, who decided to show off his beautiful train just for me.
It was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, capped off with delicious meals and the company of dear friends. Sometimes, the best way to celebrate is to immerse yourself in the beauty and history of familiar places while making new memories.

My Guardian Angel, Genoa Italy photo by Mary Harvey Gurley Twelve Years Sober: The Truth No One Wants to Hear Twelve years ago today, I hit rock bottom. Not the kind of "rock bottom" that comes with a warning label or some dramatic movie moment where you suddenly realize it’s time to change. No, mine was a slow, painful unraveling until one day—February 4th—I found myself with no more excuses. No more rationalizing. No more pretending I was in control. If I hadn’t hit bottom that day, I’d be...
